    About this recipe: A delicious and easy recipe for homemade scones. This is a quick and easy way to make scones you love. To make fruit scones add 50g (2 oz) of mixed fruit to the mixture before adding the beaten egg and water.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 225g (8 oz) self-raising flour
    • 50g (2 oz) sugar
    • 110g (4 oz) margarine
    • 2 eggs
    • water

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 C / Gas mark 6.
    2. Put the flour and sugar into a mixing bowl. Rub in the margarine.
    3. Add the beaten egg with sufficient water to make a nice soft dough.
    4. Put on a floured surface and roll to 1.25cm (1/2 in) thickness. Cut with a knife or pastry cutter, brush over with egg wash or a little milk and put on a floured baking tray.
    5. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 15-20 minutes.

    Tip

    Have the scones while there nice and fresh. Have them with jam or cream and enjoy.
