About this recipe:This is an elegant, yet super-easy starter to throw together. Blinis are topped with sliced avocado, salmon, wasabi creme fraiche and then garnished with caviar and celery leaves. For the perfect finger food, you can also make these using canape-sized blinis.
1 avocado, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon wasabi
150ml creme fraiche
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons vodka
4 tablespoons olive oil
8 slices raw salmon (from a fillet) or smoked salmon
caviar for garnish
celery leaves for garnish
salt and pepper to taste

Mix together the creme fraiche, wasabi, vodka, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate.
Marinate the salmon in olive oil and lemon juice for 1-2 minutes.
Toast or microwave blinis for a few seconds. Top each blini with avocado, salmon and a small dollop of creme fraiche.
Garnish with caviar and celery leaves.
If your local supermarket doesn't stock wasabi, you can find it in Chinese/Oriental speciality shops or online.
I made this and it was fab... except I found the vodka overpowered the creme fraiche, so I added a shooter of vodka on people's plates (actually I made shooter glasses out of ice and put those on the plates!) it was easy and impressive! - 10 Dec 2012
