About this recipe:This is a firm family favourite and makes a nice tea bread spread with naughty butter. Everything is measured in cups which makes it easy if you don't have access to a pair of kitchen scales. You can use a coffee mug, or 250ml cup.
This recipe is one my mum used to make - it is so easy, although I do it slightly differently, by soaking just the all-bran with the milk for an hour until it is mushy, and then just proceed- it always turns out amazingly well. Moist and with far more flavour than you would think looking at the ingredients! I often half the sugar too, which doesnt seem to make a difference. Can also add mixed spice, 1 tsp, or nutmeg. Always leave it a day before eating. Keeps well, and freezes too. Try it, it rocks! - 06 Aug 2011
