About this recipe: Fried Asian style mince balls - perfect served with toothpicks as canapes or eaten just as a snack.

Makes: 12 approximately

  • 250g pork mince
  • 2 chillies, de-seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 pinch dried basil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 lemongrass stalk - bruised, outer leaves removed and very finely chopped
  • 1 pinch ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons curry paste
  • groundnut or vegetable oil as needed

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. In a mixing bowl combine all ingredients well and shape into small bite size balls.
  2. Heat groundnut or vegetable oil in a fry pan and shallow fry in batches until cooked through. Serve with toothpicks. A sweet chilli or soy based dipping sauce would also work well.

Make ahead

Can be made in advance and heated through.
