Nick's sloppy joes

    The best and most amazing sloppy joes. Made with beef mince, these are so easy. Serve on a toasted bun.

    Serves: 6 

    • 500g quality minced beef
    • 40g chopped onion
    • 35g chopped green bell pepper
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
    • 140ml ketchup
    • 40ml barbecue sauce
    • 15g dark brown soft sugar
    • 1 teaspoon finely chopped chilli
    • salt and ground black pepper to taste

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Fry the minced beef on a medium heat and add the onion and green pepper. Drain the liquid off.
    2. Very finely chop the garlic and add it to the pan. Add the mustard, ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar and chilli.
    3. Mix thoroughly, reduce heat, simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    4. Done.

    These were delicious, I've never had sloppy joes before so have nothing to compare them to but this did not stop me and my family demolishing them at lightning speed. Thanks for sharing! (I didn't have any fresh chillies so I just used dried chilli flakes)  -  11 Dec 2011
