Beef in Tomato Sauce

    A simple, rich and delicious meat sauce. Beef mince is simmered with carrot and onions in a well-seasoned tomato sauce. Serve with pasta.

    Serves: 4 

    • 200g beef mince
    • 1 onion, chopped finely
    • 2/3 carrot, chopped finely
    • 3 cloves garlic, grated or finely chopped
    • 2 teaspoons vegetable stock granules
    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
    • 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
    • 1 pinch caster sugar
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

    1. Heat oil in a large frying pan. Saute beef, onion, carrot and garlic until the beef is browned.
    2. Add stock granules, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Stir. Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
    3. Stir in soy sauce, tomato ketchup and sugar. Stir and serve.


    Feel free to dice up any vegetables and add them to the mix.
