Baked Apples with Brown Sugar


    These baked apples are the perfect treat for the cold winter nights. They are baked with vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon and apple juice. Enjoy with cream, custard or ice cream.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 large apples
    • 115g dark brown soft sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 250ml unfiltered apple juice
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Wash apples, pat dry and remove cores with an apple corer. Transfer to a small baking dish. Sprinkle apples inside and out with brown sugar and cinnamon.
    3. Mix together vanilla extract and apple juice. Pour into the baking dish, so that the apples are sitting in 1-2cm juice.
    4. Bake for about 45-55 minutes, basting occasionally with the apple juice. Apples are ready when they are tender. Serve with vanilla custard.
