    About this recipe: These delicious morsels are quick and easy to make. Oats and dates form the base of these wonderful cookies. They are perfect for Christmas or anytime of the year.

    Makes: 40 - 60 cookies

    • 125g butter
    • 250g oats
    • 250g dates, stones removed and finely diced
    • 2 eggs
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing the tray

    1. In a small pan, melt butter and stir in oats. Remove from heat and let cool.
    2. Mix the eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar and baking powder together. Stir in date and oat mixture.
    3. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4 and grease a baking tray with 1 tablespoon of butter.
    4. Take 2 teaspoons of mixture and place in small piles on prepared baking tray. Bake for about 20 minutes.

    Really easy to make. Really ought to come with a health warning....VERY moreish!!! These were devoured within a couple of hours of coming out of the oven. I used goats butter as I cannot tolerate cow products...still tasted fab. Thanks for sharing - 09 Jun 2012


    Made these a bit bigger than recommended - used a dessert spoon to dollop them onto the baking tray. Didn't take 20 minutes to cook. Only about 16/17 minutes. Delicious! - 17 Jul 2016
