    About this recipe: These delicious treats are quick and easy to make. They are flavoured with almond oil and nuts. You can choose just one type of nut or several. Enjoy with a big mug of hot tea.

    Serves: 30 

    • 250g plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 150g caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
    • 3 drops bitter almond oil (or almond extract to taste)
    • 4 tablespoons milk
    • 100g butter
    • 200g coarsely chopped nuts
    • evaporated milk for brushing

    1. Work the plain flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, almond oil, milk, butter and nuts into a smooth dough. Shape into two rolls, wrap and chill for 1 hour.
    2. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Cut rolls into slices and brush with evaporated milk. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes.
