About this recipe:This Italian-inspired dessert, is different from the average tiramisu. Cointreau soaked lady fingers are layered with whipped cream and apple sauce. For the best flavour, use home made apple sauce.
lady finger biscuits (also known as savoiardi or boudoir fingers) as needed
6-8 tablespoons Cointreau (orange liqueur)
500g high-quality apple sauce
250ml double cream
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
1 (10g) sachet whipped cream stabiliser, such as Dr. Oetker's
unsweetened cocoa powder to dust

In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of lady fingers.
Mix together milk and Cointreau. Drizzle half of this mixture over the lady fingers. Spread half apple sauce over the top.
Beat cream, vanilla sugar and stabiliser together. Spread half of this onto the apple sauce.
Arrange a layer of lady fingers on top and repeat apple sauce layer and whipped cream layer.
Finally, dust with cocoa and chill for a few hours.
