About this recipe:
These sandwiches are extra-special. Succulent pieces of baked cod, steak sauce and Ranch dressing are sandwiched together in toasted burger buns.
450g cod fillets
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 lemon, cut into wedges
30g butter, softened
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons steak sauce
4 burger buns, split and toasted
2 tablespoons Ranch salad dressing
- Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
- Place fish into a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with garlic and squeeze lemon juice over them. Dot with butter.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- Spread steak sauce on the cut side of the bottoms of the buns. Top with pieces of fish, then drizzle with Ranch dressing. Place the top buns over the filling and serve.
Alternatives to cod:
Try this recipe with inexpensive fresh coley or pouting. They both belong to the cod family but are much cheaper and available in larger supermarkets or fishmongers.
