About this recipe: A wonderful snack to enjoy anytime of the day. They are quick and easy to make and taste fantastic. The bars are buttery and dotted with chocolate chips and walnuts.


Makes: 24 bars

  • 110g butter
  • 110g dark brown soft sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 egg
  • 520g sponge cake mix
  • 120g chopped walnuts
  • 340g plain chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a 20x30cm baking tin.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in water and egg, then stir in sponge cake mix. Finally, mix in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread mixture into tin.
  3. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
