    About this recipe: These burgers are a must for blue cheese fans. Minced beef is blended with Gorgonzola cheese and basil, formed into burgers and grilled on the barbecue. Serve in burger buns, if desired.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g extra lean minced beef
    • 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
    • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
    • 115g Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
    • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
    • salt and black pepper to taste

    1. Preheat barbecue for medium-high heat. Lightly oil barbecue cooking grate and place about 10cm from heat source.
    2. Mix beef, garlic, onion powder, Gorgonzola cheese and basil together in a large bowl until evenly blended. Divide mixture evenly to form four burgers.
    3. Cook burgers on preheated barbecue until meat is evenly browned and centre is no longer pink, about 5 minutes on each side.

    Alternative cooking methods

    These burgers can also be cooked under the grill or in a frying pan.
