    About this recipe: A great way of getting more omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. Seasoned tuna steaks are grilled on the barbecue and drizzled with fresh lime juice.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 4 (175g) tuna steaks, 2.5cm thick
    • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • salt and ground black pepper to taste
    • 1 lime, juiced
    • 60g hickory wood chips, soaked

    1. Place tuna steaks and olive oil in a large resealable plastic bag. Seal and refrigerate for 1 hour.
    2. Preheat barbecue for medium heat. When coals are very hot, scatter a handful of hickory chips over them for flavour.
    3. Lightly oil the cooking grate. Season tuna with salt and pepper and grill on the preheated barbecue approximately 6 minutes, turning once. Transfer to a serving plate and drizzle with freshly squeezed lime juice. Serve immediately.

    Alternative cooking methods

    The tuna steaks can also be cooked under the grill.
