This is Mrs Hathaway's recipe for a deliciously easy to make cake. The simple vanilla sponge is sprinkled with a lovely cinnamon crumb topping just before baking. Serve with cream or on its own.

This is a great recipe but the topping needs tweaking. I double the amount so it covers the cake well and increase the amount of flour or else it isn't properly crumbly - 12 Jun 2014
Very good! This recipe peaked my interest as my dad attended the same high school. The cake lives up to its reputation--very moist after letting it set overnight. I used brown sugar instead of white in the crumb topping because of personal preference, and would suggest doubling the topping recipe if you like a lot of crumbs; it doesn't make a whole lot.
