225g butter or margarine, room temperature
350g caster sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
300g plain flour
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and flour a 20x30cm tin. Sift together the flour, cocoa, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour cake mixture into prepared tin.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
Oh my god!!! I stumbled across this recipie whilst I was looking for a gooey chocolate cake & have never ever been so happy lol. Whilst pregnant I wa addicted to cake & this cake really hit the spot. I have made this cake 10+ times over the past 4 (ish) months & everyone that has tasted it couldn't believe it was a home made one.
I must admit I am slightly naughty & make a choccy butter icing & decorate it with big choc buttons so it's literally death by chocolate & I'd dread 2think of the calories but who cares the cakes amazing! Thank u 2 who ever posted this recipie.....I'm forever in your debt!!!
