About this recipe:A deliciously different take on the traditional French toast. Slices of brioche are coated in an eggy batter flavoured with treacle, vanilla, ground ginger and cinnamon. The flavour is similar to that of gingerbread.
3 tablespoons black treacle
125ml double cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch ground ginger
1 pinch ground cinnamon or more to taste
12 thick slices brioche

Beat together the eggs, black treacle, cream, vanilla, ginger and cinnamon in a bowl until smooth. Dip the brioche in the batter until coated on all sides.
Melt half of the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Place half of the brioche into the pan and cook until golden brown on each side, about 3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining butter and brioche slices.
