About this recipe: This is a deliciously chunky tomato sauce, which is great with meatballs, pasta or anything you fancy. It's quick and easy to make and is freezer friendly.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 (400g) chopped tomatoes
  • 225g passata
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic and cook 2 to 4 minutes until crisp-tender, stirring frequently.
  2. Mix in tomatoes, passata, sugar, oregano and salt. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until flavours are blended, stirring frequently.
