Garlic fillet steaks

    This is a very simple preparation for steak. We use loads of garlic! We barbecue them and serve with baked potatoes and a green salad.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1kg (2 1/4 lb) beef fillet steaks
    • 1 bulb garlic, cloves separated, peeled and sliced
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    Prep:30min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Using a sharp knife, punch holes into steak. Stuff holes with garlic. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
    2. Preheat barbecue for hot heat.
    3. Place steaks on the barbecue, garlic side up. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, turn, and season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking until done, another 4 to 5 minutes, or to desired temperature.

    This was VERY easy to do and very simple/basic. I put in the fridge for 12 hours and it turned out very well. I do think that we like our meat with a little bit more flavour. It was a good basic recipe for us. I will definately use again and play around with more flavours. Thanks for the post.  -  24 Jul 2008
