About this recipe: This is a great cake for people who hate washing up! Everything is mixed in the baking tin and baked. The cake is chocolately, moist and packed full of chocolate chips. Enjoy as is, with ice cream or cream.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 9

    • 200g plain flour
    • 220g dark brown soft sugar
    • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 75ml vegetable oil
    • 1 tablespoon vinegar
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 250ml milk
    • 170g plain chocolate chips

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and flour a 20cm square tin. Combine the flour, dark brown soft sugar, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt in prepared tin. Mix well with a fork.
    2. Make three "wells" in the dry ingredients. Pour oil in the first, vinegar in the second and vanilla in the third. Pour milk over the top and mix all ingredients with a fork until well blended. Pour chocolate chips over the top.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out with moist crumbs. Cool in tin for 15 minutes, then cut and serve directly from the tin.

very easy to make, very moist, very nice and chocolatey. however i added a bit of caster sugar second time round as its not sweet enough for my personal taste. but a great recipe nonetheless. thank you peachey xx  -  22 Aug 2012

First cake I have made without eggs or butter, but wow, this is absolutely delicious!! I made with light brown soft sugar as I had no dark in my cupboards, this might have to be my new go to cake :o)  -  13 Nov 2014
