Perfect Beef Burgers

    Once you make these burgers, you will never buy them ready-made again. They are succulent, smokey and oh-so-delicious. Enjoy in burger buns with all the trimmings.

    Makes: 3 burgers

    • 450g lean minced beef
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavouring
    • 1 teaspoon garlic granules
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • seasoned salt to taste

    1. Preheat a barbecue for high heat.
    2. In a medium bowl, lightly mix together the minced beef, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and garlic granules. Form into 3 burgers, handling the meat minimally. Brush both sides of each burger with some oil and season with seasoned salt.
    3. Place the burgers on the barbecue cooking grate and cook for about 5 minutes per side, until well done.

    Alternative cooking methods

    You can also cook these burgers under the grill or in a frying pan.

    The burgers were moist and had a nice flavor but next time I will probably only use half the amount of liquid smoke.
