    About this recipe: These snack bars are packed full of energy, protein, essential fatty acids, fibre and flavour. They are the perfect treat for when you're on the go.

    Serves: 24 

    • 285g old fashioned or porridge oats
    • 125g raisins
    • 100g sunflower seeds
    • 70g toasted sesame seeds
    • 60g wheatgerm
    • 45g oatbran
    • 3 tablespoons linseed
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 385g smooth peanut butter
    • 350g honey
    • 50g melted butter
    • 225g plain chocolate chips, melted

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Line a 20x30cm tin with foil.
    2. Combine the oats, raisins, sunflower seeds, wheatgerm, oatbran, linseed, cinnamon and salt in the bowl of a mixer. Mix in peanut butter, honey and melted butter. Press mixture evenly into prepared tin.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate chips over top; refrigerate until hard, about 30 minutes. Cut into bars.

    My husband asked me to make some power bars. It didn't take long to find a recipe on this website. Once weighed and sorted, this was a reasonably easy recipe to make. Waiting for it to cool was the hardest part. Once it sets it is delicious and would be wonderful to make with your children. The chocolate topping finished it off perfectly.
