    About this recipe: The simplest recipe for delicious buttery shortbread. The biscuits are lightly sweet, very buttery and very short. Enjoy with a big mug of tea or coffee.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 36 biscuits

    • 450g butter, softened
    • 200g caster sugar
    • 500g plain flour
    • 2 teaspoons cornflour

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

    1. Preheat oven to 170 C / Gas 3.
    2. Cream softened butter thoroughly. Slowly add sugar.
    3. Sieve flour and cornflour before adding. Mix well. Press into an ungreased swiss roll tin.
    4. Bake 30 minutes or until very light brown. Score and cut while warm.
