A very healthful muffin full of wholegrain goodness. Be sure to use oat bran, not porridge oats. The apple sauce in place of some of the oil makes these muffins lighter than most. Use apple sauce, apple puree or even apple baby food.
Add 175g raisins. Or, before baking, sprinkle mixture of sugar and cinnamon over the tops of the muffins. Or, add 1 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg to flour mixture.

I love this recipe. I have made the following modifications. I used whole wheat flour instead, 1.5 cup of applesauce, 2 tablespoons of oil, 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. - 13 Feb 2006 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
