Add water, flour, powdered milk, sugar, salt, butter or margarine and yeast into bread machine in the order suggested by your manufacturer. Set for basic cycle with the light crust.
When alert sound or when indicated by your manufacturer add the garlic granules, 2 tablespoons of the onion and all of the cheese. After the last knead, sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of onion over dough.
I have to confess, I forgot to add the cheese and accidentally mixed all the onions in and didn't have any left to go on top. The dough seemed a tiny bit dry and the onions weren't mixing well, so added approx 2tbsp water during last knead. I expect the excess of onion contributed to this problem. We all found it delicious both hot and cold. Will definitely be making again (and try to remember cheese next time!) - 29 Jan 2014
