Onion and Garlic Cheddar Bread

    Wonderful for toasties or sandwiches, this onion, garlic and cheese bread is easy to make in your bread machine.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 12 

    • 225ml warm water
    • 410g strong bread flour
    • 2 tablespoons dried milk powder
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    • 30g butter or margarine
    • 2 teaspoons dried active baking yeast
    • 2 teaspoons garlic granules
    • 3 tablespoons minced dried onion
    • 140g grated mature Cheddar cheese

    Method
    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:3hr  ›  Ready in:3hr5min 

    1. Add water, flour, powdered milk, sugar, salt, butter or margarine and yeast into bread machine in the order suggested by your manufacturer. Set for basic cycle with the light crust.
    2. When alert sound or when indicated by your manufacturer add the garlic granules, 2 tablespoons of the onion and all of the cheese. After the last knead, sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of onion over dough.
    3. Enjoy hot and fresh bread.

    Bought Panasonic bread machine last week been making 2 loaves a day today tried to make this Well first failure sunk in middle reall disappointed  -  26 Feb 2016

    I have to confess, I forgot to add the cheese and accidentally mixed all the onions in and didn't have any left to go on top. The dough seemed a tiny bit dry and the onions weren't mixing well, so added approx 2tbsp water during last knead. I expect the excess of onion contributed to this problem. We all found it delicious both hot and cold. Will definitely be making again (and try to remember cheese next time!)  -  29 Jan 2014

    Easy and delicious. An good bread machine recipe. This was my first time making cheese bread of any sort and I half expected the cheese to be swirling in there so I was surprised it had blended and melted through so thoroughly.
