About this recipe: A rich, meaty sauce with plenty of garlic. You can make it with pork instead of beef, if you like. Serve with pasta or on a baked potato.


Serves: 6 

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 225g beef stew meat
  • 90g tomato puree
  • 700g tomato passata
  • 1 pinch parsley
  • 1 pinch basil
  • 1 pinch fennel seed
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Put a small amount of olive oil in a large saucepan and saute onions and garlic. Add beef and cook until browned. Add tomato puree, passata, and season with parsley, basil, fennel, salt and pepper. Simmer 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally.
