Sweet and spicy prawns

    Serves 4 and makes a delicious Friday night dinner! You can add red peppers, broccoli or other vegetables to bulk this up. For more heat, add freshly sliced red chilli peppers. Serve over hot steamed rice.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 tablespoons water
    • 2 tablespoons ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 2 teaspoons cornflour
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 2 spring onions, sliced
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 335g cooked king prawns, shelled

    1. In a bowl, stir together water, ketchup, soy sauce, cornflour, honey, cayenne and ground ginger. Set aside.
    2. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Stir in spring onions and garlic; cook 30 seconds. Stir in shrimp, and toss to coat with oil. Stir in sauce. Cook and stir until sauce is bubbly and thickened.

    This was really good, healthy and quick to make when you come home after work. I added red peppers as suggested and chilli flakes to heat it up a bit. Very easy and tasty.  -  21 Jan 2014


    Lovely added some fresh chilli pepper from our garden as my husband likes real spice. Also really low in calories but high in taste  -  30 Aug 2013


    this was so nice, I added an extra chilli for the kick, vegetables and cauliflower and added some lime while cooking and it turned out beautifully it's so easy to cook and so healthy too. I added sweet potatoes and a wholegrain naan bread to eat with it  -  09 Sep 2017
