About this recipe: This is a nice easy recipe - all you have to do is buy Betty Crocker® chocolate cake mix and the rich and creamy fudge icing. People in my family love it!!!

Serves: 12 

  • Betty Crocker® chocolate cake mix
  • 70ml vegetable oil
  • 250ml water
  • 3 medium sized eggs
  • Betty Crocker® rich and creamy fudge icing

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:10min cooling  ›  Ready in:40min 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Butter and flour 2 cake tins.
  2. Beat the cake mix with the oil, water and eggs for 3 minutes. Pour the mixture into the two tins in equal amounts.
  3. Bake until a skewer inserted near the centre comes out clean, 23 to 28 minutes.
  4. Let it cool down for 10 minutes.
  5. To ice: Brush all the crumbs off the cake. Stir the icing for a few minutes on its own, then spread on cake.


Cover over any remaining icing and put it in the fridge for 1 week.

Easy to make, but it does take some time to put together. Tastes Great! - 26 Apr 2011


I've done this specific recipe great many times but in a very different way: instead of oil I used melted margarine, milk instead of water and 4 instead of 3 eggs. Seperated the eggs, beated the yolks with the liquids, added the mix, beated again and finally the beaten egg whites. Maybe it's more difficult but it never fails: it turns out very fluffy, tall and is always a success. - 17 Apr 2015
