Spicy Chinese tofu with spring onions

    This classic Chinese recipe has only two main ingredients: tofu and spring onions. The tofu is spiced up with sesame oil, chilli oil and Sichuan pepper. This simple dish has been popular for centuries in China because of its colourful appearance and delicious taste.

    • 350g tofu
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
    • 1 teaspoon chilli oil
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground Sichuan pepper
    • 2 spring onions, finely sliced

    1. Blanch the tofu in boiling water and drain. Slice into bite-sized cubes and place in a serving dish.
    2. Mix the salt, sesame oil, chilli oil and ground Sichuan pepper in a small bowl; pour the sauce mixture over the tofu and top with sliced spring onions.
