Chinese stir fried pork and peas

    This simple, yet tasty stir fried pork mince and garden pea dish is one of my Chinese grandmother's signature dishes! Whenever I travel back home - this dish will always appear on the dinner table.

    Serves: 1 

    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cornflour
    • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
    • 200ml water, divided
    • 1 tablespoons oil for frying
    • 300g fresh or frozen green peas
    • 75g pork mince

    1. Mix sugar, cornflour and 1/2 teaspoon salt together in a small bowl. Stir in 2 or 3 tablespoons water and mix to create a paste; set aside.
    2. Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add pork mince; cook and stir until pork is browned.
    3. Add peas and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt; cook and stir for about 2 minutes. Pour in remaining water and cover pan with a lid; simmer for 20-30 minutes.
    4. Stir in paste mixture and cook until sauce has slightly thickened. Serve with rice.
