Super easy pasta supper

    40 min

My mum made this as a throw-together meal when I was young. She was surprised to see that I still make it.

    34 people made this

    Serves: 8

    • 500g pasta shells
    • 450g bacon, diced
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 2 (400g) tins chopped tomatoes, drained
    • 300g passata
    • 300ml water

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min

    1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add the pasta, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain.
    2. Place bacon in a large deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook until evenly browned, stirring occasionally. Drain off most of the fat, and add the onion to the frying pan. Cook and stir until transparent. Stir in the tomatoes, passata and water, and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your liking. Serve sauce over pasta.

I added a can of corn to this and I precooked the pasta before mixing it in. I also precooked the bacon and drained it then added it crumbled to the ground beef mixture while it was cooking. This rated high with my family.  -  26 Jul 2005  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

This is a great, easy recipe. I had a little spicy bulk sausage in the fridge so I browned that with the onion and used canned tomatoes with jalapenos, nice kick! This has become a weekly dish in our home.  -  09 Apr 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

I serve this dish at least once a week. I never have leftovers. I love it.  -  12 Apr 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
