These are a tasty treat that my mother taught me when I was young. A traditional family recipe, but it never had a name so I called it Chocolate Temptations because it is made with chocolate and it a temptation to eat them.
Place 225g of the cooking chocolate with the butter and coffee in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water and heat until the chocolate is almost melted.
Meanwhile, beat the eggs in a bowl until fluffy. Gradually whisk in the sugar until thick. Remove the chocolate from the heat and stir until smooth. Add to the eggs mixture and stir until combined.
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl, then stir into the chocolate mixture. Chop 85g of the remaining cooking chocolate into pieces and stir into the mixture. Stir in the almond extract and chopped nuts.
Put 24 tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto 1 or 2 large, greased baking trays, then transfer to a preheated oven, 180 C / Gas 4, and bake for 16 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire raack to cool. To decorate, melt the remaining cooking and white chocolates, then spoon into a pastry bag and pipe thin lines onto the cookies.
