Yummy calamari!

Spanish, tapas-style calamari. Great for the family; and with a chilli dip, this dish is . . . divine!

    Serves: 6

    • 400g cleaned and prepared squid
    • sunflower oil for frying
    • 100g plain flour
    • end of a French baguette
    • 5g salt

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:20min

    1. Prepare the squid by taking out tentacles and any other necessaries.
    2. Put the oil on a high heat in a deep frying pan.
    3. Cut the squid into rings about 5mm thick. Coat the rings in the plain flour.
    4. Test to see if the oil is ready: take a small piece of bread and put it in the pan. If it bubbles and fries, the oil is ready. If the bread doesn't bubble, continue heating the oil, and try again in a few more minutes.
    5. Add the squid in batches to the heated oil.
    6. Leave the squid in the oil for around 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until golden brown. Season with salt.
    7. Serve on to a plate, and accompany with a chilli dip. Eat :)

    Use for leftovers

Coat the tentacles in flour and fry with the same technique.
