    About this recipe: Tahini and mustard taste delicious with grilled tofu and tomato in pitta. Great sandwich when you're short on time and need some protein!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 2 

    • 2 pitta bread rounds
    • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
    • 3 tablespoons tahini
    • 1 tomato, sliced
    • 4 slices firm tofu
    • 1 dash soy sauce
    • 1 pinch salt

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Preheat grill.
    2. Split the pitta breads in half so that you have 4 round pieces. Spread mayonnaise on one half of each one, and tahini on the other half. Place tomato slices onto the mayonnaise halves, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Place 2 slices of tofu onto the tahini halves, and sprinkle with a few drops of soy sauce.
    3. Place the open sandwiches on a large baking sheet. Grill in the preheated oven until hot and bread is slightly toasted, about 4 minutes. Close the halves of each sandwich together, and cut into wedges to serve.

    I made this sandwich last night for my sister. I'm vegan- and I also don't use or like mayo. I put a bit more soy sauce on the tofu. I put Goddess salad dressing on the mayo side and fresh spinach under the tomato slice. I did use mayo on my sister's sandwich & it came out all yummy & crispy.     This is really good. I was also my fist time eating tofu. Very tasty. My only problem was the Tahini. I like tahini but on this it is too gritty. I suggest mayonaise on both sides.
