Serves: 6

  • 4 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 4 teaspoons cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 small beef stock cubes
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 4 tablespoons chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper

Prep:7min  ›  Ready in:7min

  1. Place dried onion, cornflour, oregano and stock cubes in mortar and grind with the pestle or place in a blender and process till powdered. If you could not get cumin powder and have cumin seeds instead blend these at the same time.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Store in an airtight container.

For those of you who do not have paprika allergies in the house, you can add a tablespoon of paprika or smoked paprika to the mix. This will add taste and colour.

Serving suggestion

Use as you would taco spice. I use 2 tablespoons per 500g beef mince.

Needed a paprika free Taco recipe so looked around the net and blended a few ideas and left out the paprika. I had salt in it first time but I think the other ingrdients added enough salt for me so am omitting it from now on. - 01 Jul 2011
