Chilli Bread

    Chilli bread made in a bread maker. Regular white bread is enhanced with a bit of wheatgerm and red chilli flakes to taste.

    Makes: 1 2lb loaf

    • 425ml room temperature water
    • 675g strong white bread flour
    • 40g margarine or butter
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons fast action dry yeast
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 tablespoon wheatgerm
    • 10g chilli flakes (more or less to taste)

    1. Set bread machine to basic, light crust and 2lb settings.
    2. Add ingredients per your particular machine's instructions. Add the flakes and wheatgerm at the time you would dried fruit when the buzzer/bell sounds.
    3. Remove from machine and allow to cool on a wire rack before eating or freezing.

    Serving suggestion

    It tastes great with butter or marg and you can change the chilli flakes to how mild or hot you like to suit your tastes.

    Nice loaf but due to sheer amount of ingredients this loaf rose too much! Maybe cut down ingredients. Lovely hit to the back of the throat.  -  30 Oct 2014
