About this recipe: A simple and classic chocolate mousse recipe.

Quarter Past Three

Ingredients
Serves: 6 

  • 500ml double or whipping cream
  • 300g dark or plain chocolate
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar

Method
Prep:15min  ›  Cook:3min  ›  Ready in:18min 

  1. Whip the cream until it is firm. Lightly beat the icing sugar into the cream.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
  3. Beat the two eggs into the melted chocolate. This will 'cook' the eggs so this recipe is suitable for children as well.
  4. Fold the chocolate mix into the whipped cream.
  5. Chill for a few hours, it will set and become very firm. Serve with anything from strawberries to Greek yoghurt.

I found 300g of chocolate too strong as I was using 70% cocoa so have reduced that done to 150g. My children love this mousse a real winner. - 27 Feb 2011

Very simple to make but light and fluffy. I used 70% chocolate and would perhaps use less next time - 16 May 2013
