    About this recipe: A simple recipe for chocolate buttercream frosting, good for any cake! Four simple ingredients is all it takes.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 2 Cups

    • 85g butter
    • 175g icing sugar
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 1 tablespoon milk

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Ready in:10min 

    1. Mix butter and icing sugar well until smooth.
    2. Add in cocoa powder and milk and mix again until smooth.
    3. Spread over a cooled cake!

    Other ideas

    Can substitute flavours as desired. For vanilla extract or almond essence, add in a little extra icing sugar to compensate for the cocoa powder. Also add in food colouring to plain recipe for some great colours.

    Tip

    Can easily double the recipe, or add in extra chocolate for a more intense frosting!

    Really easy,good thick, spreadable consistency, was enough for a layer in a minicake and enough to ice before covering with fondant. I used coffee instead of milk to match my cake. - 27 Oct 2011
