Basic slow cooker mashed potatoes

About this recipe: Plain and simple mash made in the slow cooker, so you can think about other things! Choose a floury potato, such as King Edward, Maris Piper or Desiree.

Serves: 6 

  • 1kg potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 60ml water
  • 60g butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 120ml milk, or as needed

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:4hr  ›  Ready in:4hr15min 

  1. Place the potatoes, water and butter into a slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper. Cover, and cook on Low for 7 hours, or High for 4 hours.
  2. Mash potatoes with a masher, adding the desired amount of milk to achieve a creamy consistency. Keep warm on low until serving.
