About this recipe: This slow cooker rice recipe combines mushrooms, wild rice and brown rice for a hearty side dish. This goes really well with chicken.

Serves: 12 

  • 525ml water
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 1 (400g) tin French onion soup
  • 275g mushrooms, chopped
  • 110g butter, melted
  • 190g uncooked brown rice
  • 160g uncooked wild rice

  1. In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients; stir well. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until rice is tender.

I didn't have wild rice so I substituted White Long Grain Rice. It came out a little mushy but I think this was my fault, but It was still very tasty and my family devoured it despite this. I would definitely make this again perhaps adding some chicken to it. A very filling and simple meal to make. - 21 Dec 2015
