In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour and bicarb; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Beat in mincemeat. Stir in chopped chocolate.
Spread into a greased swiss roll tin. Bake at 190 C / Gas 5 for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Dust with icing sugar and cut into squares.
The chocolate mince pie squares overflowed onto the oven floor despite using a large Swiss roll tin and took 45 minutes to bake by which time it was burnt, though I had covered it in foil after the first 20 minutes. This recipe did not work and was a waste of time and ingredients! - 18 Dec 2012
