    Delicious homemade gingerbreads. This basic recipe can be cut with biscuit cutters into any desired shape and decorated as you wish.

    Makes: 15 gingerbreads, depending on cutter

    • 100g butter
    • 100g soft brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
    • 225g plain flour
    • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
    • raisins to decorate if wanted

    1. Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5. Grease a baking tray with butter.
    2. Measure out the butter and sugar, pour into a bowl, and mix untill light and fluffy. Then add the golden syrup and mix.
    3. Then sieve the flour and ground ginger into the mixture. Mix thoroughly until you are able to make it into a ball.
    4. Roll the mixture into a ball on a floured surface. Then roll out to around 5mm thick. Cut the gingerbread mix into the shapes you desire and place them on the greased tray. Decorate with raisins if desired.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 10 minutes. Then place on a wire rack to cool.
