Chocolate domino slices

    These yummy cakes are moist and chocolaty, and are topped with a delicious chocolate buttercream and coloured sweets to look like domino dots. I hope you will enjoy them!!!

    Serves: 12 

    • For the cake
    • 175g softened margarine
    • 175g caster sugar
    • 175g self-raising flour
    • 25g sifted cocoa powder
    • 3 medium eggs
    • Chocolate buttercream
    • 175g butter
    • 275g icing sugar
    • 25g cocoa powder
    • Decoration
    • multi-coloured sweets such as Smarties

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Place all of the cake ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat them together until smooth. Spoon this mixture into a greased 25x15cm traybake tin. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the surface of the cake springs back when gently pressed with a finger. Turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool.
    2. For the chocolate buttercream, place the butter, icing sugar and cocoa powder into a large bowl and mix well until the mixture is of a smooth spreadable consistency.
    3. Cut the cooled cake into squares. Spread each cake with some of the buttercream. Place the coloured sweets on the top so that it looks like domino dots, and arrange on a serving plate.
