Beef stew in a pressure cooker

    Get slow-cooked beef stew flavour with this quick and easy pressure cooker beef stew. You can change up the veg to suit your own tastes, and you can add ale instead of wine.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1kg stewing steak, trimmed and cut into cubes
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 carrots, sliced
    • 2 red peppers, cut into strips
    • salt and freshly ground pepper
    • 225ml dry white wine
    • 250ml water

    Method

    1. In the pressure cooker, heat the olive oil over high heat and brown the beef a few minutes on all sides. Add onion, carrots and peppers and reduce heat to low.
    2. Add salt and pepper and stir in white wine. Pour water over all, close the pressure cooker and cook for 10 minutes from the moment the valve starts to turn, or follow the manufacturer's instructions.
