About this recipe: Shish kebabs, or sheesh kebabs, are a very popular starter served in many Indian restaurants. Serve with mint sauce.

Serves: 6 

  • 500g minced lamb
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon tumeric
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • oil cooking spray
  • fried onion and coriander for garnish (optional)

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:30min 

  1. Mix together the lamb mince, chopped coriander, onion, turmeric, lemon juice and vinegar. Add salt and pepper as desired.
  2. Roll the mixture in to thin sausage shapes on skewer and cook under a preheated moderate grill for about 10 minutes. Spray with oil and change sides frequently.
  3. To serve, garnish with coriander and fried onions.


You can also barbecue the kebabs on a medium BBQ, turning frequently.
