Chocolate cogs (chogs)

Chocolate cogs (chogs)

About this recipe: WARNING: Very chocolaty and good to have at special occasions. Enjoy and please give feedback ;) thanks. Preparation time might vary. I just thought of it out of my head and two weeks later I had made it five times! Be sure not to make it too chocolaty and sickly.

Serves: 1

  • 3/4 cubes of milk cooking chocolate
  • 2/3 cubes of white cooking chocolate
  • 1/2 cubes of dark cooking choclate
  • 1 tablespoon ice cream
  • 1 extra cube of each flavoured cooking chocolate
  • 1 tube whipped cream
  • 1 handful of glace cherries
  • 1 extra scoop of any flavoured ice cream

Prep:15min  ›  Extra time:30min freezing  ›  Ready in:45min

  1. Melt the milk cooking chocolate and while waiting for it to melt set up a baking tray with kitchen paper and three different sized round pastry cutters - if you want the cog effect than they will need to have a zig zag (fluted) edge.
  2. Once the chocolate has melted, pour it into the biggest pastry cutter - you can use the end of the wooden spoon to push the chocolate right to the edge if need be.
  3. Repeat steps 1 through 2 with white and dark cooking chocolate.
  4. Being careful not to nudge the cutters, place them in the freezer and leave for 30 minutes.
  5. Once frozen, pop them out of the cutters and, being careful not to melt your ice cream, spread the ice cream on one side of each chocolate circle - NOT THE MILK CHOCOLATE ONE THOUGH!
  6. Stick each piece together, smallest on the bottom. In this picture it shows the two ways you can present your cog tower (the left is presented in a bowl and the right on a plate). Place back in freezer for another 30 minutes.
  7. While waiting for chogs in the freezer, grate 1 cube of each flavoured cooking chocolate.
  8. Once your chogs are out of the freezer its time to decide how to present it. 1) Put smallest cog first into a bowl (see picture) with ice cream at the bottom and cream with grated chocolate-see step 9, OR 2) Place biggest cog first on a plate with ice cream and add cream on small cog with grated chocolate-see step 10.
  9. Place a scoop of ice cream into the bottom of the bowl and then put the chogs onto (smallest side first) put the whipped cream on top using an ice cream 99 cone sort of style. Sprinkle the grated chocolate on top and stick on your cherries, serve and enjoy straightaway!
  10. Put the chogs in the middle of the plate (biggest cog first) and add whipped cream onto the top (like a 99 cone ice cream style) sprinkle grated chocolate on top and stick in your cherries. On the side of your plate put a scoop of ice cream and (if wanted) either a few dots of melted chocolate or sprinkle some more grated chocolate serve and enjoy straightaway!

If you would like to ask me anything add me on facebook: Send me a message before adding me so that I know your not just a weirdo :)) x You can also make it healthier by swapping chocolate for frozen yoghurt and swapping the cream and grated chocolate topping for fruit-enjoy.
