Strawberries in brandy

    I first had this in a taverna in Greece many moons ago; it has remained a family favourite ever since. A yummy and super simple desert that never fails to impress.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 punnet strawberries
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 2 to 3 tablespoons brandy
    • cream or ice cream to serve

    Prep:10min  ›  Extra time:2hr soaking  ›  Ready in:2hr10min 

    1. Wash and hull the strawberries and put into a bowl.
    2. Sprinkle on the sugar and pour on the brandy.
    3. Leave to soak for about 2 hours, longer if you can.
    4. Serve with cream or ice cream and the strawberry juice drizzled over the top.


    The juices from the brandy, sugar and strawberries make quite a concoction . . . drink if you dare!


    Also makes a delicious topping for pancakes, adults only of course!
