This biscuit recipe is perfect for kids' parties, very basic and so simple to make. My kids love it and so do I! :-)

    Makes: 20 biscuits

    • 200g self-raising flour
    • 200g soft brown sugar
    • 160g butter or margarine
    • 20 hard boiled sweets

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:10min cooling  ›  Ready in:30min

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Grease baking trays.
    2. Place flour, sugar and butter into mixing bowl and bring together with a wooden spoon (or hands, if you desire) until you get a smooth dough.
    3. Make 20 mini dough balls and place them onto baking trays. Press down with palm of hand. Allow a lot of space between these, as they do spread.
    4. Make a hole in centre of biscuit dough and place a hard boiled sweet in the centre.
    5. Pop in the oven until golden brown and sweet has melted, about 10 minutes.
    6. Take out of oven and leave to cool until sweet has cooled completely, about 10 minutes.

Ensure the sweet has cooled completely before removing from baking tray as this will ensure you don't end up breaking the biscuit around the sweet. Also it's easier to take off with a spatula.

If you like a really crunchy biscuit that stands up to the dunk test, these are the one for you. I made a batch and they were so good I had to made double the amount three two days later. I made them for grown ups and didn't put the sweet on them.  -  07 May 2014
