1 cauliflower, chopped
3 potatoes, peeled and chopped
For the béchamel sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons plain flour
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 or 5 cooked sausages, cut into rounds
40g grated Gruyère cheese

Steam the cauliflower and potatoes until tender, about 30 minutes.
Fifteen minutes before the vegetables are finished cooking, prepare the béchamel sauce. Melt the butter in a pan over low heat. Remove from heat, and whisk in the flour all at once, whisking until smooth. Return the pan to low heat, and pour in the milk very slowly, whisking constantly to form a smooth sauce.
Preheat the grill for high heat. Grease a shallow baking dish with 1 tablespoon olive oil.
Add the cauliflower, potatoes and sausages. Coat with the béchamel sauce, sprinkle with the grated Gruyère cheese and season with salt and pepper.
