About this recipe: One of the best was to cook trout is very simply to bake it with a little flour and salt. This is a great meal for two, lovely served with seasonal vegetables.


Serves: 2 

  • 2 whole trouts, cleaned and gutted
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • oil, as needed for cooking
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • fresh parsley, to garnish

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
  2. Rinse the trout and pat dry with kitchen paper. Sprinkle with flour and season.
  3. In a frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat and fry the trout until brown on both sides. Transfer to a baking dish.
  4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. (You can cover fish with tin foil so they stay moist.) Remove from the oven.
  5. Serve with lemon wedges and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
